Getting Help

Printing a document causes all fields to be emptied and not print out

Details:

When printing a TurboLaw form, the text contained in most (sometimes all) of the gray form fields will not appear on the printout, even though the text appeared on the screen. After printing, the text may also be gone from the screen as well.

Resolution:

This problem is caused by a flaw in the way Microsoft Word "refreshes" form fields, especially in versions of Word prior to XP (2002, or version 10). The "refresh" causes the form fields to be emptied, which results in the "empty" printout.

To resolve this problem in Word 2000, 2002 (XP) or 2003, click on the Tools menu and choose Options. Then, click on the Print tab, and un-check the box which says Update Fields. Then click OK. Now when you print your document, the text in the form fields will also be printed.

To resolve this problem in Word 2007, click on the Office button and click Word Options. Then, click on Display, and un-check the box under the heading Printing Options which says Update fields before printing. Then click OK. Now when you print your document, the text in the form fields will also be printed.
